Xaveer Leijtens (1962) studied physics at the University of Amsterdam. He received his master degree with honors in 1988 and his Ph.D. degree in 1993 on research in the field of high energy physics.
In 1993 he joined the Photonic Integrated Circuits group at the Delft University of Technology. Since 2000 he is with the Opto-Electronic Devices group of the COBRA research center at the Eindhoven University of Technology. Xaveer’s current interests focus on generic integration technology and includes photonic integrated circuits containing multi-wavelength sources and detectors.
From 2005 to 2008 he was chairman of the IEEE Photonics Society Benelux chapter (photonics-benelux.org). He is leading the design effort within the Joint European platform for InP-based Photonic Integration of Components and Circuits (JePPIX.eu). Since 2007 he is associate editor for IEEE Photonics Technology Letters. Dr. Leijtens (co-)authored over 150 papers and conference contributions and 3 book chapters.
